See if there is a Dynojet kit for it. Look at teh jest they have for stage 3 and Mikuni's will be about 10 points less; MK=DJ-10 (approx)

However this will not help you with a needle any which is [primarily why you need the DJ kit.

I was kinda meaning a cheaper jet kit as I am building this bike on a very strict budget

Well if you have access to a lathe you could drill out your jets... people have been doing it this way for years...

The PDF files are avaliable for free download and tell you all the jet sizes. Yours would be stage 3. Get the equivalent MK main jet. They is why I told you the conversion. It is possible to modify needles if you have calipers and a drill but I don't have any experience doing it. There is also a company on eBay that sell jet kits for about 1/2 of dynojet jet . I think people have posted that they were good to deal with.

Can you afford to do ANY of the other required maintenance on this bike?
Tires, brakes, valve adjustment, carb cleaning, new O-rings, etc?

I was think the something similar, I can afford a 4:1 and K&N pods but now the I can't spend another $50 on a jet kit.

He didn't say he BOUGHT all that stuff , he said bike has that on it , he could have meant he spent hours cleaning and polishing and doing what he can to get road worthy , he is looking for help to try and get it running better , maybe he doesn't have a lot of money extra and wants to do it as cost effective as possible , Why do we try and offend people every chance we get, holy **** guys!! WOW

that seems to be the trend on here lately....... rip into everyone and anyone who comes on here asking for help. the site is going downhill i'm afraid...

Agemax you said it my friend , I hate seeing people belittled in any way , and when it's about money ,even worse , I don't get it really !!!!

Yes he is trying to get help but apparently doesn't even reads the responses. If anybody is coming off half cocked I will look elsewhere. Hint Hint.

sorry for the late response but the bike came with the 4to1 exhaust and I have my friends old cheap pods from his gs750 he went the k&n route. but thanks to those who are very kind and helped and im probally gonna have to go with a jet kit anyways. and the tires are new and the carbs have been fully cleaned but reassembled with the stock jets which I think is the problem. any other help is greatly appreciated

I love a budget build. That's the stuff heroes are made of. Even when I have money, I still try and save it.

Find a jet kit. It will be way cheaper than buying jets individually. It's important to know that the needles are different from each company, and a 140 jet from one company won't be the same as all 140 jets. (Example)

Ask tons of questions. Take lots of pictures. Experiment. Test. Do it again. Live it man!!!

Kevin.

O.K. after checking that your bike came with 112.5 main jets and considering the mods given, you can start with 125 main jets and you may have to vary either one down 122.5 or one higher 127.5. Depending on whether you ride at Sea level or higher elevations, you may have to raise the needle jet one step (replace the plastic spacer with four 3mm flat washers.) Good luck! That should get you started. ;)

I think I might have mentioned before, you just look up the main jet size from the DJ kits. Stage 3 is DJ130 which will be very close to MK120 .
A selection from 117.5, 120, 122.5 should cover all bases.

Shimming the needles seems to work well for budget use. Someone mentioned 3mm brass washers can be found at hobby stores or try online. Make sure to check the needle holders for wear and tear, they can get elongated.
