Its been a while since I was cruzing the GS pages.. its good to be back.
I am using a new user name, its been that long.

Any way... I am thinking about picking up a GSX1100EZ

1984
33k
Reasonable condition
Blue and silver

$2,800US or 3.3kNZ

Looks good and I will eventually do the fork, wheel, engine thing in time. Just get it up and riding first.
BUT to buy it I must sell a 150cc race bike I like but have not used in 18 month. Seems I prefer working in the shed.

The wife just like to see the pain she creates....

What say you?

I say that if it is an 1100EZ, it's not an '84.

The model code for '84 was "E", which would make it an 1100EE.

.

How does correcting him help? Do you feel smarter now

If you will get enjoyment and use the Gs I say go for it. Price seems a touch steep but I am not up on pricing in your neck of the woods. Good luck.

How does correcting him help?
Correcting him (or at least offering some more-correct information) might help him with his decision on whether to buy the bike.

Some people simply don't realize that the last letter is the year designator, not part of the model name, hence the confusion.

If he does buy the bike, it will help him if he ever has to look for parts, as some parts might be offered for an 1100EZ, but they won't fit that bike (because it's not a "Z").

Do you feel smarter now
No, I don't feel any smarter, but do you feel better for berating me?

Offering correct information does not increase my intelligence in any way.

What I have learned, though is that some people evidently feel better by berating others.

your right I am sure you made his decision much easier and his wife will surely be ok with it now

What an ass hole.

How about some pictures of the race bike and the wife so we can provide more correct information and more accurate guidance.

C'mon guys, can't we all get along? :D
I will say this: it is a NZ bike. It is a GSX. It has a black engine but chrome pipes. The paint scheme is different from the U.S. offerings. It appears to have a silver front fender.
I suggest that is not the same as offered in the U.S., and may not have the same notation as we are used to, since in 84 we had the 1150 but NZ may not have had it available to them.
Can we compare it to an 1150, or would it be easier to compare it to an 83 1100E?
It is missing the right side cover, which may not be available in NZ. What about the left side cover?
The seat appears to be starting the infamous 1100E split up front.
Is it a runner?
What shape are the tires in, and what is the date stamp?
How about the chain and sprockets?
I'd certainly run a charging system check on it if it is a runner.

Back then ... everything took up to a year to get downunder ... including movies!!

Which one will you ride more?? That is the question, and usually easy to answer.

LOL. So we can compare it to an 83, and see if he can answer my questions. We should also take into account the higher cost of things there, plus the apparent difficulty of getting things shipped there. It is entirely possible that a bike we may only value as a $1500 bike may go for $2500-$3000 there.

it's 110% true. Twas the natural order of things.
Don't know if the silver was a stock color for that market ... but it looks slick! (and yes, it would've had sidecovers! lol)

Buy it.

Screw what anyone else will say.

- boingk
LOL.
Actually, all we have done is try to figure out what it truly is (which we have accomplished) and what actual condition it is in.
I haven't seen anything negative, merely interrogative.

Thanks for the reply's.

Yes its a NZ model.
$1500 here would get you something that's a heap.

Was a runner two years ago and has been parked up since in a shed.
Tyres are new and it will come with side covers.

BUT its not a runner at the moment, seller say it was running fine when parked. Battery is rooted and needs replacement.

And its not mint.

They don't come up for sale very often here.
