caliper rebuild advice please

Got my stainless pistons, thanks to help from the lovely people on this forum - now to get to work!
Its a rear caliper I'm rebuilding and its in pretty bad shape - paint peeling off and lots of weird white stuff, like some sort of deposit or corrosion, inside and out. Whats the best way to clean up? What paint should I use to finish? Most importantly - does anyone know where I can but the little rubber O-ring seals that fit between the two halves of the caliper? In the UK, that is.

I don't know about sourcing parts in the UK, but if the paint is already a goner, let the caliper halves spend the night in carb dip. I did that with great results on my front master.

I shot it with flat black out of a can, and made sure not to drip any fluid on it. The same stuff on my front calipers survived the bleeding process, but no promises. Between using a hose on the bleeder, and Teflon tape on the threads, I managed not to get any fluid on those either.

The white stuff might be old brake fluid goo, might be part aluminum corrosion. See what's left when it comes out of the dip. I had to discard a set of front calipers after deciding the seal grooves were too pitted.

any decent caliper paint will be ok, just prep it well first,removing all the white corrosion. try halfords for the paint.
if you still have the o rings take them to a local fastener shop, we have a few in plymouth that stock everything from bolts to o rings. if you get stuck, let me know the size of the rings and i will get you some from work

I don't know which bike you have but all Suzuki parts are available online from - robinsonsfoundry.co.uk

If you mean the flat O ring / washer that has a small hole in it (to allow fluid through)

Then on a 1000G its 69107-45000

Paint - I used hammerite smoothrite and it came up pretty good

The seal between the two caliper halves does not have a round profile like a normal "O"-ring, but actually a square profile, so OEM is the way to go here!

Thanks EVERYONE for replies. Ordered seals from Robinsons (brilliant shop!) the part number was exceptionally helpful. Now going to Halfords for paint. And the cleaning up process begins! Thanks for all the advice.

Just to make a final update -
I received the tiny O-rings from Robinsons, part number 69107-45000, but they did not fit any of the three rear calipers that I have (they were too big), even though the calipers had been sold to me as GS1000.
I called Robinsons, who were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to research the other O-ring possibilities. I was sent the ones that corresponded to GS850 and a few other bikes and these are the correct ones. Part number 69107-342000.
