:-D I got a set of 1989 gsxr 750 cams {oil cooled} I have heard they will fit in the GS 1100 . it appears they are quite a bit hotter than the stockers similar to street strip type cams offered by cam grinders .8-[

I'm just wondering if anyone here has tried them and what were the results ??? \\:D/

8-[ got em in set the lash the bike runs \\:D/ we will see if they work at the drag stip this weekend [-o<

8-[ the bike ran 2 tenths quicker and 5 mph faster than last weekend . \\:D/
I only installed the intake cam . I'm gonna install the exhaust cam this week to see if that improves the top end even further [-o<

I'm not a racer but that sounds like a HUGE power increase. Sounds like a good hot rod trick. Are the cams a direct drop in? Stock 1100 valve springs okay?

I just did this as a experiment seeing I have a bunch of oil cooled GSXR parts laying around .
I would not recomend this for a street driven bike as the cams do fit but they are shorter and may cause some bearing journal wear :shock: I also had to use the early style GSXR cam gears {roller chain vs link belt }

They also have a smaller base circle and longer rocker adjuster screws should be used .

the bike made more power over 9000 rpm thus giving me my higher trap speeds .

I went through my log book to compare data for weather conditions etc. temp, humidity, air density,
the bike picked up 3 mph 1/8th mile and 5mph at the 1/4 . I kept my shift points the same {9000 rpm}

the bike ran 10.30's last night when it would run 10.50's with identicle weather conditions .

I plan on testing a set of GS 1150 cams next \\:D/

That sounds really good, If you ever remove the cams could you measure the lobes and post them. I can never find what the lift is on these gixxer cams. I know there's a few different one's out there??? It would be nice if they matched up the part number to the lift on the web.

my cams are out of a 1990 750 and measured .338" at the valve . the 88/89 cams are bigger so I hear 8-[ total duration is around 310 degrees
I did not measure them @.050 .

I decided to try installing the exhaust cam as well this week to see how that pans out .
I know in a 1200 Bandit they really wake up the top end :shock:

I found some cams on ebay the 340/320 one's and I think you bidded on them too ?? When they get here I'll measure them too. My bike is running really strong with the Katana one's so this should be even better.

8-[ Yup I bet I did bid on those LOL!!! I never win :shock: I'm too cheap LOL !!
Hey Jake do you have any pics of your bike ? is it the one in your avatar ?
I'd like to see more of that bike . I want to make some changes to the rear of my bike this winter . {just lookin for ideas }

:) installed the exhaust cam today engine sounds really good \\:D/
nice lope to it and snappy :shock: gonna get some time slips friday night

Slingshot '88-'89 Gixxer cams are :

intake .355 @ 248 (at .040)
exhaust .334 @ 242 (at .040)

I know as I have a set in my '05 Bandit 1200.

Good Luck, Ed

quite a bit bigger than the 1990 cams :shock: cool ... I wish I had a set of those LOL

Won't win any shows

Right now it's a 5.5 rim, I'd like to try a 6 in busa wheel some day.

So far my best with the katana cams is 105 mph, so maybe with these 340/320 I'll be in the 108 ballpark??? If it ever quits raining I'll run the bars too

8-[ I got some ideas and your pic's helped a bunch . I plan on something similar I want to take out 6" of the seat and 6" of the frame and move the whole tail section forward . basically remove the passenger seating area 8-[ thanks for the pic's

I was going to try the same thing with just the rear tail light assy. Look like it would work with some tabs welded on the frame. But I never got around to it and just chuck it. Plus I already cut most of the frame off past the shock mounts. But it should be do-able.

:-s Back to the cam story , after instaling the exhaust cams the engine sounded real tuff and ran nice but it lost some top end power . it did help with my 1/8th nile and 60 ft times but lost some top end charge it had with the intake cam only configuration . the bike ran 10.30's last weekend and could only muster a 10.52 this weekend . the weather conditions were almost identical again . 1/8th mile mph was on par but 1/4 mile speed was down 2 to 3 mph . :shock:

I'm going to yank out the exhaust cam and run the stock exhaust cam . I'm thinking the stock compression and cylinder head porting is not up to par to take advantage of more lift and duration on the exhaust side .
I think if I was to play with the lobe centers I might be able to make the exhaust cam work better but not worth the effort , when simply putting the stock exhaust cam in will net me some decent results .\\:D/

That's interesting on the exhaust cam swap?? I'm using a 280 lift exhaust cam and the bike runs great with this small cam. Maybe the 25mm exhaust valve's in the 750 head makes up for the small cam?? or maybe it's the compression??

I want to make a few run with the bars on (when it quits raining) with these cams, then swap over to the 340/320 one's and compare them.

I don't know the rocker ratio on this Katana head but I measured the 340/320 cams base circle then the lobe height and with the lift I times it by 1.5 and I was getting 350 on the intake and 330 on the exhaust ????
