I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

The title above pretty much says it all; Can A 4-Tube Morgan Carbtune be Used on a Twin Cylinder motor? Are there any special procedures before it can be used in this way? Like do two of the tubes need to be blocked off, or anything of that kind?

I have searched and cannot find anything, there is nothing in the Morgan instructions that I have.

So any help will be greatly appreciated.

Just connect two tube Don. Leave the other two disconnected.

I don't have a Carbtune, but I have the same 'problem' every time I use my mercury sticks on a FOUR-cylinder bike. :-k

I have a set of sticks with SIX columns. :D :dancing:

Yep, just connect the ones you need.

.

Hey Don, make sure that you connect the right two though. Nah, just kidding!

Our Christchurch brothers have taken another serious hammering today. Another earthquack ( 6.3) struck just after lunch time. It was 10 kms from the city center and only 5 kms deep. Many lives lost this time.

We seem to have upset the gods, "Down Under"!

Ian your Prime Minister just announced 65 dead with many more to come under the rubble.

P.S. Thanks guys for the quick responses. As soon as I repair the diaphragms I will do the sync on the 800.

Before repair.

After repair.

Thank heavens for silicon and latex rubber.

Yeah Don, it's a very bad day for CHCH and NZ. Just 5 months after their 7.1 shake. This will seriously impact their spirit and the community rebuild.

Do you think that repair job will allow the slide to operate at the same rate as the other one does? I would expect the rubber in that area to be more resistant to movement and make the response time a little slower than a stock (unmolested) one. I presume we are talking twin carbs here.

Yes Ian twin carbs. The other diaphragm needs repair as well. I will look around for a thinner, more liquid silicon to use next time. I am arranging a used set of slides from the States so this is an experiment.

Gorilla glue works well if brushed on very thinly. I had mine repaired that way for a bit (still have them as back up) didn't really notice any difference.

Could you explain Gorilla glue please, is that a brand name, what's it made from? silicon!!:p

What are the symptoms of a split or holed diaphragm in one carburettor?

Yes, that is a brand name.
Its a single part, (no catalyst) acrylic urethane polymer. Normally used for wood joints, turns into sticky goo if exposed to water and dries as a hard, expanding foam. Not suitable for any use where vibration is a factor as it will crumble.

They now have a Gorilla super glue that is excellent, does not require wetting and does not foam. I used it on a broken part on the bottom of my "S" fairing, and I swear it was all I needed for the repair. I reinforced it on the inside with fiberglass just for grins. I have used it to repair a small tear at the bottom edge of my seat and it worked nicely. It might repair a diaphragm, but it's likely to split somewhere else later. Dry rot most likely.

You should experience a lag in response.

The affected carb won't build enough vacuum to raise the slide until very high rpms, and only then if the split is very small.
