A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Can anyone identify these shocks?

I just picked them up with a stash of GS parts.

They are going on one of my GS1000G's
(The Black with Gold one.)

TIA,

Daniel

Ride them and see... I expect best case you'll have something similar to a progressive brand shock...

Well I got them on the bike and now it makes me think about painting the dust boots on the shocks gold also.
As well as the rims, cam cover ends, lower fork tubes and air box covers.

Engine black with gold exhaust?

It never seems to end...

I think it looks just fine like it is.

A little detail is nice, but do some photochopping to get an idea of how much is too much before going to the trouble.

As I don't know how to do that,
can you "volunteer" for me please?

I think that would look nice but maybe in something like gold chrome. If there is such a thing.....

Start>Programs>Accessories>PC Paint

Import your image (cut and paste works) and use the paintbrush tool.

If you zoom in alot it makes it easier to be precise.

You can also define custom colors to get one cloase to what you are looking for.

I love photo-chopping things! Here are some quick little mock-ups I did. Also having a black and gold bike I've thought about 'gold-ing' some stuff too. It always come down to how much is too much. Anyways hope this helps you see what your imagining.

Your initial description plus a gold fork brace up top.

With a gold headlight bucket trim.

And with the wheels done. IMO this is too much gold. But hey, you may like the bling :p

Anyways enjoy. If you (or anyone else for that matter) want to see other options feel free to send me a PM.

NOTE: Hijack is / was unintentional. How well do those shocks work?

Hmm, a GS1000 made to look like a Xs1100sf. Yamaha called it a Midnight.

I was thinking more like the Kawasaki Spectre.

Thanks for the photochopping Tim Tom!

How about with a black engine w/ gold fins on the top half, gold exhaust and a black brace also?
Perhaps black exhaust would be better?

I think it looks pretty good this way actually. I like a black exhaust, I think gold looked way to gaudy. Black keeps it functional. The engine also is a nice touch. The silver engine and pipes clashed too much with the black and gold scheme.

VERY nice... the only thing that looks out of place is the carbs... I think blacking them out would be nice.

Your right about the carbs. Hows this look?

Just goes to show your first idea / iteration is almost never the right one.

Almost perfect, but gold on the brake pedal, black out the front master cyl, & handle bars, and either gold or black on the back of the instrument cluster.

You guys are just about reading my mind. ;)
I have the black carbs already and only the edges of the top fins will be gold,
the complete engine will be black with gold fin tips and cam cover end caps.
Black brake pedal and shifter. Gold letters for DOHC and Suzuki Motor Co., LTD.

By George, I think I will do it!!!

Thanks for all of the help!

Not a problem. Be sure to take and post lots of pictures! I'd be interested to see how the photo-chopping turns into reality :)
