If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I would say it used to be a 1980 GS1000ET ?? (looks like a 1000 motor and the tank and the CV carbs date it)

Looks like a Frankenstien to me.

Looks like a Frankenstien to me.

Looks like a Frankenstien to me. Nothing like taking an inexpensive, nice bike and making it into an expensive piece of junk.

what do you think about this one?

Focus,

Ooh that's ugly!

I bet Frankenstien will be a lot cheaper to complete.

I say it is a 78 or a 79

I say it is a 78 or a 79

I think it is a 78 or 79, it only has one disc on the front wheels, I think the carbs where added later

The earlier bike looks like an 80 or later GS1000 as it has CV carbs. The frame is a custom one. The forks look like they are based on standard ones (air caps etc), the wheels could be off anything!

750 4 valve engine in a 78/79 frame/wheels.

Bingo 78 gs 750 bike newer motor around a 82 750 16 valve engine
saaz and sqDancerLynn1 win!

apeared to be a older conversion.

I agree the forks are likely 78- early79 as they have the single disk which was discontinued on later 79 models. 79 was also the last year for the 2 valve engine on the 750, so the engine has to be 80 or later. The part I cant figure out is that if you go to the parent site, you will see another engine in the frame. That engine is a 2 valve engine. The 78-79 750 2 valve was only made with 26 mm slide mikuni carbs and the induction tubes used a flanged base, not the pipe and turb configuraton of later models. Well, his 2 valve engine is shown with CV carbs apparently off his 16 valve engine, BUT...I have a 79 750 and a 81 750 and it is not possible to swap the carbs due to mounting differences, cylinder head castings and different intake diameters. Anyone??????

Interesting..if it is possible to do. The size of the intakes are quite different, and I don't know how well the intake boots would line up with the intake ports in the head.

Thats the part that puzzles me. 2 valve engines used 26 mm carbs and 4 valve engines used 32 mm carbs. Its not possible to fit a 32 mm carb flange inside an induction tube meant for a 26mm carb. The carb flange is bigger than the outside diameter of the induction tube. :-) The ports and boots do line up but there isnt room left to install the 79 model air cleaner box and the aircleaner box from the 81 will not fit (different shape)
(you may have already guessed that I had that same idea for a conversion) :-) :-) :-)

Well said chrisdnoel. Is that a front fender/mudgard on the rear?

I had similar ideas to fit bigger late modl carbs. Now I am happy to ride as is...age brings less need for chnage :)

Chopzuki

And the winner is:

Tim White hit on the nose. This was a very rough '80 GS1000E. It was purchased for $400 to get the wheels, shocks and brakes for my '78 GS1000C. So that explains the wheels and such, they are from the '78. The gas tank is off the '78 also. The indentations running the length of the tank were filled to make it look like an '80.The front fender is on the rear tire just so I could get an idea on what to put back there.

The frame is a one off. I designed and built it myself. The design is based off a number of other hardtails that I found cruising the internet. All custom machining is done by my father-in-law who is a tireless hot rodder himself.

Many people have questioned my sanity for cutting up a Suzuki four to make a chopper. Well, to each his own. You like your stuff and I like mine. One thing you can be sure of, I will never stoop so low as to call your stuff junk.

Yea, it is a great example of what you shouldn't do to your Suzuki! This guy turned a great handling bike into a POS.
