Hey people! I have a 79 gs425L that I am trying to find rear drum brake shoes. Any recommendations? I can't find anything online.

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I think those are on bikebandit for $46 OEM, part numbers 1111173 (513163-001)??? lots of other sources too I am sure, that was just the first one I checked. I would recommend just calling them to be sure and they might recommend other hardware kits to go along with it.

AWESOME. I looked on bike bandit, but I couldn't find the rear wheel diagram... then I tried again 
I ripped the bike apart completely and painted two summers ago, and now Im putting it back together. I figured I should put new shoes on the pig.

CRC2 has sintered metal shoes for your bike for $15.

I bought some shoes from them and those are Emgo brand. Cannot comment on the quality/stopping power as I have not installed them yet (waiting for chain/sprocket replacement in a few months).

The Suzuki part number is 64400-11860 and they are $34.48 with free shipping from G&S Suzuki.
While Bike Bandit is usually an OK source, they are usually the second most expensive supplier (right behind Alpha Sports) and have their own part numbering system, which makes it difficult to cross-reference any parts.

So I ended up ordering the wrong brakes for my 79 gs425l. I ended up getting the e or the n model ones. They do, however, look easilly modded to fir the l. Has anyone tried this?

I ordered the shoes from crc2, and the box is sitting at my fiance's office. They should be fine, because the part numbers I found online are the same across the E, N or L. It's the front pads that have a different shaped tab on them. Once I get to the garage this week I will take some photos.
