At the recent Painter Dave/Fennimore rally I had an odd issue pop up. My bike was running good on accelleration & decelleration but would sometimes at a sustained throttle position feel like there was a slight miss. It was pretty windy so I thought that might be the issue on the air intake with the wind. I am running a stock airbox with snorkel and mentioned it to BWringer. He also thought that might be the issue but also mentioned the carb vent tubes. At our next stop I pulled the sidecover and saw this.
Note the one tube is below the bottom of the airbox. I then pushed it up to look like this.
Once I pushed up the vent to behind the airbox and out of the "wind/turbulence" area it ran perfectly the rest of the trip. The moral of the story is

, and B -The GS's are VERY picky on airbox sealing and be sure your carb vent tubes are in an area that cannot be affected by heavy winds or swirling air under the airbox level.
