    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a 82 (I think?) GS450 that I am fixing up for my wife. I am missing the boots that mount the carbs to the heads. Will the boots from other GS models interchange?
 
It's likely that the ones for YOUR bike are still available new.

I'd highly recommend that over risking getting some hardened brittle leaking crap someone might sell you on eBay or the like. Plus, that way not only do you know they're good, you'll know they'll fit too :)
 
Yes, like TheCafeKid says, try to get OEM parts where possible. I've found that eBay sellers will often charge more than a Suzuki dealer for the same parts. Many people here buy parts online from partshark.com, boulevardsuzuki.com and gssuzuki.com. You can also drop by your local Suzuki dealer.

Before you can buy any parts, you'll need to figure out your exact year and which model of GS450 you have if you don't know already, as there are at least four different 1982 models for that engine size listed in the parts guide. It's possible that the intake boots for all of them are interchangeable, but you'll need to know the exact model designation sooner or later.

Don't forget to order the bolts, lock washers, o-rings, and hose clamps for those boots if they are missing too.
 
The same boot fits the '78 GS400 through the '82 GS450 (all models), but is different starting in '83, so be sure what year you have.

The part number is 13110-44001, the cost is $25.72 at G&S Suzuki (retail is $34.85). By the way, that price is EACH, you will need two. You will also need the o-rings (p/n 09280-40010)) for $2.09 each (qty. 2) and clamps (p/n 09402-54303) for $2.42 each (qty. 2) and bolts, if you need them, too. The bolts are generic M6x1.0 x 20mm, can be found about anywhere.

You might be able to save a few pennies by getting your o-rings and STAINLESS bolts from cycleorings.com. You can also get a full o-ring kit to rebuild your carbs if they happen to need cleaning, as well.
