All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Does any one know where I can get a 1983 GS400E stage one carb kit? I am looking to get a lil more performance out of my bike.:twistedevil:

See my comments on your other post. What is it about stock that you are not liking? What have you done so far with the bike?

After market exhaust and that's it. Is it possible to get rid of the air box and just put some K&N filters on?Anyone done that? I am just looking for a little more get up and go..

Yeah, it's possible to change your filters, but please know that even with just the exhaust change, you will need to re-jet your carbs.
If you go to pod filters, you will need to re-jet again (and again, and again).

While it's always nice to add more power, there is only so much you can do to coax another horse or two out of a small engine.
If you were to add an impressive 10%, that's still only about 3 horses, so it might not be all that noticeable,
but you would have to wait for someone with a smaller bike to speak from experience.
I tend to keep the engines on my bikes stock, as I find them adequate for me.

Not sure who originated the statement, but "there's no substitue for cubic inches".
You can also follow the drag racers' philosophy: "if some is good, more is better and too much is enough". :D

Hi Mr. moose200,

Indeed, there's no replacement for displacement. :D

Your not going to find one !! Your on your own for jetting and shimming the needles. It is a trial and error procedure...

Start with a 2 into 1 exhaust (Mac has one), mill the head as much as possible and a K&N air filter. Rejetting is a must. Check if GS1100 or 1000 pistons can be bored in that will open you up to all kinds of big bores.
