A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Carb rebuild or new carbs?

82 1100 GK but I have the stock carbs, straight pipes, pods, and thats it. I've tried to sync the carbs but I can't get them to sync properly. My question is, would it be better in the long run to buy a new set of carbs, or have mine rebuilt, or just leave them the way they are. The bike runs like a champ, but sometimes has a flat spot around 3500 rpms.

probably just lean, I would go up a main jet or 2

does it have a flat spot at full throttle or partial throttle.?

Carb sync isn't going to have too much influence once you're up to 3500rpms. You didn't mention if you did a thorough cleaning and rebuild with new o-rings. If you haven't then that's your next step. Assuming all of that is taken care of the next step might be a jet kit. I had a similar issue with my 1100E until I installed a Dynojet kit. No more flat spot.

The flat spot is more partial throttle than anything. @ wot it runs really good most of the time. Every once in a while I feel the flat spot @ wot but hardly ever, and it seems like that depends mostly on weather.

The carbs were gone through extremely thorough. My dad is a mech. and has been working with carbs his whole life and he did it. I forgot to say that the flat spot felt better and the overall power delivery felt smoother after I cut the pipes off after the collector. It had stock harley pipes on it when we bought it.

Besides the obvious "why", how could one attach stock Harley pipes to a Suzuki? :-k

Got any before and after pics?

LMAO, I have no idea why it was done, but it looked crappy one b/c the pipes were same side pipes so one was upside down and had the stamped lettering on the outside, but two it made the bike sound like a lawnmower. I do have pix of after in the appearance mods section and I have before pix somewhere on my other pc but in the middle of a move so it might be a few weeks before I can put them up.
