A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Who here knows the sizes for the screws on a BS34 carburetor from a 1983 Suzuki GS1100ED?

I know that the CV caps and float bowl screws are M5 x .8 x 16mm and will need 32 screws total for that.

But what about the gang plates?

There are 8 screws for the gang plate on back of the carbs. Then there is another 8 screws that are a little bigger on the front and bottom of the carbs.

What size are those?

Thanks for any help!

M6 x 1.0 x 16mm

One gang plate is 5M and the other 6M.

er um 16 for the one I quoted. The other specs should be the japanese standard. I doubt Suzuki would buy one off screws.

Yes, 16mm is for one of them but what about the other? I'll just go to the hardware store and check.

Ok well the parts numbers on places like alpha-sports decode.
The fasteners that I have compared are all standard soooooo.

I feel your pain Nessism is the machinist giuy so he can chime in.

I thought that M6 was a diameter of fastener and the last foctor was length.

The middle number is a mm per thread count the standard for M6 being 1

so good golly go to alpha sports and assume that the part number has standard pitch as a given.

So M6 16 is the meat of the issue and the 1 in the middle is a given unless otherwise specified.
