A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Carb Sync issues. 1979 Suzuki GS850?

Forum Apprentice
Hello everyone,

I recently just got done going through my VM26 slide carbs and cleaning and changing orings out. I also changed the manifold boots and orings as well. Bought a carb sync tool and I'm honestly stumped on what to do next.

The Bike runs well enough to have fun and ride around on in the summer.

Put it on the vacuum gauges and here is roughly what i see.

3rd cylinder wont come up above the 5 cmhg mark. where the others get up to 20 when i pull on the throttle.

What would my next steps be at this point?
I have a bike that runs well enough but there's clearly something off

Maybe I'm wrong, but I always thought that with gauges like those, you have to hook up each hose to the same cylinder, and adjust each gauge so it reads the same value. Then, you move each hose to an individual cylinder, and measure vacuum for each. Is this wrong? Sorry, I have a Carb Tune, which doesn't require the extra step.

EDS correct. get a few tees and hook all the lines in series and calibrate each needle to read the same off one running cylinder. then you can reliably know all needles are reading te same.
