As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Does anyone know if the carb to engine intake boots are available aftermarket? I know they are available for other bikes but was wondering if you can get them for a '81 GS550L.

Thanks,
Craig

Thanks mckiver, but that alternative will cost me $200 here in Canada. Does anyone know of an aftermarket?

Boots for my 82 GS 650 gl were around 100.00 for all four on bike bandit. I had some issues with mine and I dont know if this is reccommended by all but it worked for me. I took my carbs off and coated the outside of the boots with silicone sealant let it fry then reinstalled carbs. This worked for me just dont get the sealant inside the boots forward of where the carb shafts seat in the grooved inside portion of the boots or it could be sucked loose and go into the cylinders. that was at the beginning of last riding season and I have put over 1000 miles on the bike since then with no problems. Before doing this my bike wold not idle right would surge up at idle because of sucking air through cracks in boots. I would replace mine before taking a cross country trip but for rides within an hour or so from the house I'm comfortable with the current boots.

Thanks Matt, appreciate the input. Anybody else got any? Checked the price on the intake boots today - $52.38 each, and I need four. Ouch!

Check Ron Ayers. They seem to be a little bit cheaper than BikeBandit.

www.ronayers.com

I just received mine yesterday from RonAyers, $7.55 each.
They don't ship too fast (7 to 10 days) but their prices are good.

A lot more than just a "bit cheaper" I would say. 8O

I just had to check this out. Boots at Ron Ayers are $16.48 each. Boots at Bike Bandit are $25.61 each. Quite a difference. BTW, I had to use the fische at Bike Bandit to look up the parts and then run the part numbers on Ron Ayers.

Thanks Guys, that will be much easier on my Canadian pocket book. There has to be special arrangements for them to ship to Canada so I'm going to follow up on that one.

thanks for showing me that site now i have a nother excuse for spending another hour on the computer good sruff bike bandit
