Ladies and gents I give you the first ever 04 gsxr 750 headers on a Suzuki gs550. Ok I just finished the trial fitting on the gsxr mod headers and I think they look amazing, the pics really do not do the bike with this header justice, there is some more cutting/welding/grinding to do but you get the basic idea. I even think there is still enough room to change the oil filter. As for the weight of the OEM vs gsxr OEM vs gsxr mod here are the totals
OEM 79 gs550= 24 lbs
OEM 04 gsxr750= 20 lbs
I do not have the weight of the gsxr mod header. why? Because its not done!:D

The gsxr pipes are huge in comparison to "real size" of the stock gs550 pipes

Fabrication music: cream gold compilation
(Most of the time I have something a lot faster and harder playing like slipknot but I tried to play something more this bikes style and I think she liked it)

Note's:
no progress will be made tomorrow or Saterday
friday: I’m volunteering at the “relay for life” in Brunswick (ME) come stop in and walk some laps and show Support
Saturday: going down to MA to see my brother graduate from grad school, it will be a day of days (I am so proud of him)

ok all
today i cut down the 04 gsxr 750 muffler, its now 13 inches long and a 2 baffel and looks much better on the bike, i also nitched all the exhast pipes and bent them up to give me more ground clearance were i need it. i also cut off the stock passanger foot rests/oem muffle brackets and i think it gives the bike a nicer/sleeker look. all of this is indirectly part of my converting to fuel injection.
my bike in now worth .40 cents more, i used 4 dimes to cap off the holes from the passenger foot rests

Plan for tomorrow is to finish the exhaust and if time allows to start making the throttle body mounts

After finishing the exhaust (95% I still need to make a hanger) a very nice USPS employee brought my gas tank!
After taking apart the in-tank fuel pick up assembly I ran into kind of a snag, the fuel pump used a inverted connection to the plastic fuel pump holder to get gas out of the tank. I didn?t account for this, so after so head scratching I decided just to tap the fuel pump with NPT and use a brass barb fitting and it worked very well. Now for the pics
All the pieces of the fuel pickup assembly and one of my feet w/ flip-flop

How the fuel pump with NPT turned out

Since the tank also came with a nice new gas door with key, I think I might cut the Suzuki tank up and install that one instead

Hello again all
I?ve been out straight working on the daily driver(s) so not much time to work on the bike but what I did do was bond 2 of the 4 intake boots to their new rubber throttle body mounts using jb weld. I first ruffed up the alm. lip then I ruffed up the inside on the rubber (using sand paper on both) and cleaned both ruffed up surfaces with vinegar. After applying the jb weld I put them in a vice to keep force on the bonding area over night and let them dry in the sun the entire next day. I think it might work, I will still need to build a bracket for the throttle body?s but that?s easy enough to do

Beingblueeyes-JB Weld!!! That's awesome! Where there's a will, there's a way! Once you deem it works, just bring the pieces to a muffler shop to duplicate for cheap. They can hook you up with welded or streched pipe.

hey all no real updates, i have however got found a oil catch can on ebay that i will convert to my fuel serge tank

here?s some pics of it

# Holds up to 750ml
# Dimensions: 6.75" x 3.00" x 3.50"

Well I spent the morning working on the seat/relocating the battery and all the electronics from under the seat to the seat. I know moving the battery higher will throw off the center of gravity slightly but I?m not too worried about it. I wanted to keep the stock seat because I really like how you need a key to remove it and also it has a metal base.
I also removed the rear fender/tail light/rear blinkers because I?m going to touch a led tail light and smaller blinkers under the seat

DSC01062.jpg

Ok today I finished extending the wiring harness and making brackets/mounting everything on the seat that?s going to be relocated there, I also added my rear led turn signals and made a bracket for the plate and the led tail light. i still need to clean up the wireing a but you get the idea. Now I have room under the seat for the fuel surge tank and the microsquirt
DSC01066.jpg

So today I started to make the other 2 boots and I also started looking at how I?m going to mount the fuel serge tank I also made sure the fuel pump would fit in it and it fits nice

DSC01069.jpg

I also got some parts for the "part 2" of this build after I get the bike running right:twistedevil:

(side note if anyone is looking for a set of 8 foggers there?s a good deal on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Holley-NOS-Nitrous-Oxide-Fogger-Nozzles-8-pieces_W0QQitemZ180363331946QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRace_Car_Parts?hash=item29fe7e096a&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1171%7C240%3A1318

they need the part the jet sits in so if you know where to get that this is a great deal)

well today I finished the last 2 boots that i needed to make and then put them on the bike, after that i looked to see how big of a spacer I needed to make, as it ends up I only needed to make a 5/8 spacer between the throttle body?s. After making the spacers I made the throttle body supports. drhach the tank is for the fuel pump

well today I worked on the fuel serge tank and i also worked on the gas tank by cutting the stock gas cap mounting point off and welding on the cbr gas cap mounting point and doing the first stage of bondo work put down, my 1/16 by 27 npt tap also came in today (if you?re looking for one of these taps DO NOT WAST YOUR TIME at any local hardware stores. I got into a argument for 10 min the other day with a clerk after I asked for one and he told me they didn?t make them and there was no such thing as that size) I drilled the holes for the foggers and taped them and then test fit the throttle body?s in the bike for n20 line spacing

Wouldn't it be better to put your foggers after the throttle plates, pointed toward the middle of the TBs, like the injectors are?

Looks like a tight fit for air cleaners, too.

Curious to see more. :D

I guess I don't understand why you would use surge tank rather than route the fuel directly back in to the existing gas tank.

Yea having the foggers after the tb plates would be ideal but I don’t have the space to put them there (tps sen. and
throttle bract are in the way on the inner 2 bodys). As for air filters ill prob make some air horns/velocity pipes and put screening on them for a filter

Ok here’s my fuel system lay out in words (because I’m not done working on it yet to take pics)

oem fuel tank
to
Fuel serge tank with fuel pump in it (being gravity feed by oem fuel tank)
to
Fuel rail
to
Serge tank with fuel pump in it

Repeat until key is shut off or run out of fuel

So, you are doing this so that you can run a submersible fuel pump rather than an inline pump?

Never let it be said that you took the easy way out. I hope this all works for you. You do still have your carbs just in case right?
