I bought a 1981 Gs 750 EX as a midwinter as a cheap commuter/fixer-up project. Here the other day I adjusted the chain tension while the bike was on the center stand and the tire could spin freely. I adjusted the chain to the manuals specs, 20-30 mm of play. When I gave the tire a spin the chain would tighten then lossen. It would tighten to just under 2cm, enough to cause drag on the tire. Then it would lossen enough to have about 6 cm of play. I was reading another post with a similar problem. Is this much play enough to justify replacing the chain and sprocets, or should i just adjust the chain at its tightest point. I'm a college kid so money is kinda tight but safety is invaluable. Any input would be greatly appreciated. If anyone needs any more clarification feel free to ask. Thanks
