    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Charging battery in bike

How can I keep my battery charged while in my bike, without having to take off the seat and pull out the airbox?
My air box has an odd shape to it and it comes down beside the battery to where the terminals are blocked.
Can I make some leads that come off of the battery to clamp the charger onto?
Or cut back/customize the airbox to where it doesn't cover the terminals up?

Battery Tender!

Comes with leads to attach to the battery. Those leads terminate in a "plug" that you connect to the charging device as needed. When not needed, just tuck the plug into the bike out of the way without the need to disconnect from the battery.

Hi, i had the same problem with my 83 GSX 1100 so i bought an Automatic Trickle Charger, hard wired the battery end and cable tied the plug in an place where you can,t easy see, never had a flat battery since. Works like a charm.
 
Not sure which model you have but for the L I bought a tender and cut off the clamps from the two piece lead and put on ring terminals. I attached the ring terminals to the battery and ran the wire to the rear area of the sidecover, taped it to the frame cross member to hide it and it tucks in above the cross member when I am not using it. When I get home after a ride I just take the lead out and attach it to the tender. I do not have to remove the seat or the sidecover. Once the tender is hooked up it senses the battery condition and goes to the monitor mode and that tells me that my system is charging properly.

The charger that I bought has the battery tender function.
Just wanted to find out if I was on the right path of hardwiring some leads to my battery.
Evidently I am on the right path!

It would probably be a good idea to use an inline fuse on the positive lead though. 10 or so amps.

'cause ya never know ...
