A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Cheap Leather

I was looking for a cheap leather jacket to replace my 30+ year one that I had. Keep in mind I wasn't looking to make a fashion statement but was just searching for a replacement to replace the disintegrating one I had. Stumbled across these folks: http://www.carolinaleatherworks.com/index.html

The jacket I was looking at didn't have a pic on their web page of the back so I emailed them. Within an hour I received an email back and they had posted two pics of the back of the jacket on their web page. So I figure, OK, cheap jacket let's figure out what size I need. On this particular jacket they stated on their web page it was cut small so order at least one size up. Well, I measured according to the info on their site and it seemed I was some sort of a mutant gorilla. So I emailed them again. On a Saturday. And received a response back within an hour again from their "weekend help desk"! He recommended a 3XL for me based on this particular jacket and the sizes I gave him. Keep in mind I'm usually an XL or XL tall. So I bit and ordered it last Saturday and it showed up at my door today. And it fits. $5.95 shipping. I'd do it again.

Thanks for the link. I just ordered the brown travel bag and the brown buffalo jacket in Big boy size(4X). (I will not wear black riding gear) they had nothing in pink

Update: the travel bag is great. Super heavy leather. Solid zippers and straps.
The jacket is another story. Thin dress leather. Questionable sewing on the seams. Generally poor quality. I won't wear it so it's heading for ebay tomorrow

Yes, The 4xl description is not real accurate (as suspected). I usually wear a 2xl. This coat was tight across the shoulders. I must say the arms are very long which is a plus. I guess the biggest deal to me is that it's just not what I would consider to be a riding weight coat but more of a fashion weight for the profilers. All in all the jacket was a gamble like anything else you buy via the internet. I will remember the site because of the quality of the travel bag and the ease of the transaction

I wear a leather when I ride to help keep bones from flying out of me if I wreck, so to me a cheap leather is like a cheap helmet.
