    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Been searching, but not doing so well. I have a 79 GS-L 550, got the bike with the carbs out, supposedly rebuilt. One of the choke plungers was stuck, couldn't work it free. Ended out pulling the assembly apart, got it unstuck, put back together, worked fine. Got the carbs back in the bike, when trying to hook up the throttle cable, the end of that plunger snapped off. I guess it got weakened when trying to free it. Are all Mikuni choke plungers the same?

Maybe I'm looking at this all wrong. Is there a place online to buy parts, where I just put in the year make model and it tells me what it needs? I'm new to bikes, this is my first. Been working on cars my whole life.

www.z1enterprises.com (may need to call them as they don't list everything on their site)

G&S and Boulevard have perhaps the best prices overall but Z1's customer service is second to none. Shop around.

As far as the carbs being rebuilt, don't trust the PO on that. On Basscliff's site http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff (you'll get the official welcome later like I said), you'll find a couple of carb rebuilding tutorials. Read through them and follow them to the letter - not doing it will cost you more trouble later.

The PO is a friend of mine, I'll talk to him and figure out exactly what he did to 'rebuild' the carbs. I've been using bikecliffs site, it's helped out a lot so far.
