    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

clubmans look sweet, too uncomfortable?

on a 78 750? thinkin of getting some clubmans and wondered if it would be really uncomfortable.
 
Can be ok if the bike is set up for them (rearset adaptions etc) but for real day to day riding, they're pretty rough. Trust me, I think they'd be awesome for a track bike or a second bike that was meant for just riding out to some curvy roads near by and hunting apexes, but they're more uncomfortable than a pure sport bikes clip ons honestly. Get some superbike bars. They're low, and still provide leverage for attacking curves without breaking your back and wrists.

AND, superbike bars are 25 bucks
 
There's a reason they are called cafe racers - they are too uncomfortable to ride past the next biker cafe.

If you really like the look of the clubman's you might try a set of risers with them. Don't know how they would look but it's an option. I have 4 or 5 different bars in the shop and I'm going to experiment till it feels good.

I have clubmans on my bike and don't have rearsets (yet).

Not gonna lie, riding for more than about an hour at a stretch is tough on my back. That said, I don't commute on the bike or take it for long distance rides (yet?). It's just a weekend curve-hitter for now, so it works for me.
 
Clip-ons would be better, because they are adjustable. Most clubmans are too narrow to permit much angle adjustment (they hit the top of the triple clamp if rotated). I know there are some adjustable clubman bars, but they are expensive.

Rearsets difinitely help in improving your balance, control and back comfort, but they are pretty expensive.

I went with clip-ons, then a drag bar, and finally settled on a Renthal Superlow bar for my '78 GS550.
 
Even with Superbike or Daytona bars, I want some rearset footpegs. Just haven't gotten around to adapting the set of Yammy pegs I bought. But maybe I want to maintain passenger accomodations, so may just get slightly higher bars or risers....
 
I've got the Superbike bars on my 450, I find them to be almost too high still though, even with the mid-sets. I'm also only 5'9" with some stubby legs though.

I'd love to do rear-sets and clip-ons but considering the probably $300 required I think I'll make do with it as-is.
 
i just painted my drag bars black and stuck them on today. i had super bike bars on them before and they are comfortable but it just takes away from the sleek minimal totalitarian look of the bike.
 
I have clubmans with a very small set of risers. You can get differing widths of the curved part of the clubman bars, I got mine from airtech and I can rotate them over the top triple clamp. I am also 5 foot 4 and have the inseam of a 12 year old (in fact, my 12yo daughter is taller than me) so I'm not in great need of rearsets and can ride my bike for hours without a break. I guess it comes down your size and shape as to how comfortable you are going to be with clubmans, but I reckon if you are much taller than me, I'd be looking at rearsets to go with the new bars.
 
I'm looking on ebay at rearsets, i just put my feet on the passenger pegs anyway when i ride longer streatches, i guess it would be nice to be able to brake and shift :D. I've never looked into getting them and i really Don't have any idea how they function. They just bolt on and use levers to actuate the existing brake and gear shift? Are your old pegs still usable?
 
. I guess it comes down your size and shape as to how comfortable you are going to be with club mans.

Fitness and technique have a great deal to do with their comfort also. I had them on the RD for a couple of year before I returned it to stock.

You could buy a set of newer sportbike rearsets off of ebay for cheaper then the ones made for our bikes. You would need to make your own brackets though, you could either make a plate or have someone fab up a prettier looking mount.

These also look really nice and are very well priced, no mounts though. I might pick up a set of these in the future.
