Ok have had noise issue with 80 850 for a while now. Have taken cam chain tensioner apart clean and reset according to manual and on here. Everything inside engine looks good, just did top end rebuild this last winter. Valves checked and only two needed changed. Took starter clutch off (loads of fun) and nothing appeared bad or loose, but do have one from parts bike with only 18,000 miles on it so going to use that one. Took clutch(on right side) apart this morning and nut did seem to move ever so slightly. Took hub(?) off to check springs in back of there, they do seems pretty loose, can turn them with finger. I can't afford a new clutch hub, and one on parts bike is in same condition, so I guess I will grind off rivets install washers till springs are tighter and get rivets welded back on. This does seem to be the correct thing to do? I've never done this so wanted to make sure this is the way to go? Do I have to get a new clutch nut when putting back on bike or can I reuse old one? Thanks in advance for any help.
