    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What's up Gang?

I have a 83 gs1100e. I put a new clutch in today. When the bike is in nuetral it moves back and forward, but when I put in first it will not go even though I sqeeze the clutch lever in. I'm wondering if I tightened the hub to tight. My question is if I tightened the hub to tight would that cause the bike not to move in first gear or any gear even though you squeeze the clutch lever? I hope that I explained so that you guys can understand.

did you have to go into that far to change clutch

On the 83s there is a small washer that goes against the bearings before the large washer with the oil tunnel in it. To check this does the inner clutch hub move at all when in neutral? It should move freely.
 
I replaced the clutch plates recently and have similar issue.

I think it may be some grove mark make on the clutch hub slot by the frication plate and the new clutch plates thickness is not same as the old one.
So that the new plates can not seat properly and evenly on the groves, and result it can not move in and out freely even you pull the clutch lever all the way. Finally, I need to adjust the clutch cable without the 3mm free play and even with some tension.
On the other hand, it dose not have enough pressure on the clutch plates together and caused slip.

Therefore, they always said it should use the same clutch plates from Suzuki to solve the problem.

OK, I re read it a couple times. I think what hes saying is valid. If your Basket or Hub has check marks or grooves worn in them, from the old clutch pack, the new pack may get hung up on them. Mine did so I filed out the grooves.

What's up guys?

I fixed the problem!!:D The problem was that I tightened the clutch hud nut to tight with my air gun and it caused the trans not to move in any gear accept nuetral. So if anyone out there thats changing your own clutch for the first time "Please do not tighten the hub nut to tight".

I took her out for a spin and like usual she pulls like a mad train!!

You bound the bearings. This should not happen with 200# on there. Are you sure you didn't install the spacers incorrectly? ;)
