A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am replacing my old clutch with new Barnett clutches and springs. I removed the old clutches and there was NO ring on the inside of the clutch. Do I need to buy a new one or can it just be left out???? and I changing the clutch cable as well. Need a little help with this project. Looking in the manual show parts that are not in the motor. and the Barnett's clutches came with an extra plate. 83 GS1100E motor

That clutch will eat your clutch hubs.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
And you don't need the piano wire.

Barrnett clutches are made on a thinner plate and they have a tendency to chew up the clutch baskets, and hubs. Yes they grab well but for a limited time only. Better off with stock clutch plates.

The heavy duty springs will cause hand fatigue also.

If you want a really nice clutch look up blowerbike (Terry). http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=212389

that be me!
call anytime for the best clutch you can put in a big GS.

Just replace half of the springs. If you replace all of them, you will be riding home one-handed after a few miles.

Hey Terry The money has been sent and it should be there today. Let me know if it there yet. Again thanks for your help.

When my clutch started to slip 26 years ago, I tipped the bike on its side (didn't want to drain the oil) and replaced only the springs with the Barnett springs. WOW, those springs took a LOT of hand strength. Even now, they are still a handful. Might not be a bad idea to only use half of the Barnett springs.

Yes so I been told. I talk with Terry and order a complete set up with clutchs plate and spring for about 200.00 dollar but thanks for the head ups

Just installed new clutch complete but have no Clutch. Clutch will not engage at all what wrong??????? Installed clutch as designed fiber in first and fiber last arm at 90 degrees and lever is tight. I screw the adjustment screw:confused almost all the way out.

Sounds like the arm needs to move a tooth or two on the spline.
