You are mis-quoting me. I have never advocated cleaning out rusty fuel tanks with beer. We have a beer over here that many refer to as tasting like rusty water. I guess it would'nt be abuse if you would'nt mornally drink that brand anyway.
An overproof liquor would probably work better, but that really would be alcohol abuse.
I guess if it were mine, I'd use a couple of handfuls of small stones mixed with kerosine and shake the tank violently for 10 minutes or so. Have a beer, then drain the rusty kero and stones out, and spend the next hour chasing the last of those pesky stones out of the filler. Ideally a sealant should then be used to prevent the metal re-rusting over the following months.
