I tried to start my project 1980 GS1000G yesterday and found it very difficult to start. Once it fired it was only running on cylinders 1 and 4. 2 and 3 were cold. I traced the problem down to the coil connector. Wiggling it cause the cylinders to come to life. I checked the connection out and found it very dirty and very loose. I'm thinking of replacing the connector completely. I have a couple of options:
1: Find a stock replacement connector (both male and female)
2: Replace with generic connector with higher current rating (Spade connectors)
3: Relay mod
In order to replace the connector with a stock replacement I need to know where and what to buy. Anyone know of a source for this connector?
If I go with option two I can just hear the words of a new owner complaining of the PO (ME) that swapped out the stock connectors and now he has to do the same when replacing the coil.
Any suggestions other then option 3, doing the relay mod. Don't really see a need for that right now.
