DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Well, I installed almost new boots finally, checked the floats while the carbs were off, and got her runnin'. She ran fine but #2 nipple for my synch kit was missing an o-ring so I couldn't synchronize the carbs tonight. But she was running better than ever, a little light on #1 (cool pipe at idle) but was very responsive on the throttle for the first time. So, I decided to try and take her for a spin. I was able to go through the gears nicely on the center stand so I figured what the hell. Well, I took off down the side street by my house and all of a sudden it wouldn't rev past 3000 RPMs. Just bogged. Killed it, pushed it back to the house , restarted it, but now it wouldn't idle, just bogged out, and plain and simple ran crappy. Next thing I know I could smell something nasty as hell and there was smoke coming from under the gas tank. I looked under there and my coil was leaking!?!?!?!!?!

Took off the tank and there appeared to be a small crack in the coil and a waxy like substance was spewing out of it, falling onto the head, and created the worst smelling smoke ever. No wonder it wouldn't run with a poop. So, looks like I am going to have to save up my pennies and get a pair of coils, wires, and plugs for this old girl. Maybe she'll be roadworthy by the end of this month...already a month behind, and here in WI winter can come in October...

Any suggestions?

Check your voltage going to the coils. Most likely just from age. I know you can find later model coils off of EBAY that fit later Suzuki Bandits that you can swap with. I go some off a 97 Bandit for mine, and it is the same part number.

Thank you. I am thinking it is because I ran it w/o a battery. Never a sound choice and now I am going to pay dearly for it. A searching I go.

Any suggestions?
Yeah, I have a suggestion. Basics are basics, but give us a clue what bike we're talking about. 8-[

Either tell us in your message, or create a signature line that tells us what bike you have, and maybe even what part of the country you call home. You can be specific with a town or as vague as mine, which is "southwest oHIo". Sometimes it's nice to know if somebody might be close enough to stop by and help personally. \\:D/

its too late!! you inhaled the gases of the PCB oils used to cool the coil. No you will die!!

If it has electronic ignition I have a set of coils. Let me know if you want them.
Check the R/R before putting in another coil though.

Alright. Hello, my name is Carl Schultz, and I am a Suzuki owner...

Kidding. It is an '82 GS850G located in the metro Milwaukee area. She's been sitting for 7 years now and I'm on the verge of putting it back on the road and now this happens. Chef, if your coils will work on a GS850G, I'll take them off of your hands. Let me know how much shipping them is.

I always wondered what PCBs smelled like. Our county just had to shut down over half of its parks due to PCB contamination from fertilizer made by the sewerage treatment district. Miwaukee in its prime was a great industrial power and PCBs were used for everything. Now, she's just a ghost town not to dissimilar from Detroit now that the auto industry is moving out of there.
