A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I did the coil mod mentioned in a few other threads Sunday. First off, let me say that electrical work, whether it's automotive, residential, etc., makes me nervous. Anyway, I knew going in my battery needed charging, so after replacing the plugs and hoping I had the coil mod done correctly, I unhoked the trickle charger and hit the button. 1/2 a turn later, and
IT'S ALIVE!
Man, this bike has never run so well, cold or hot, since I bought it a year ago. Can't wait to get it out on the street! (of course, the predictions for the rest of the work week are rain and more rain, followed by periods of precipitation)

awesome. gotta get those parts and do this. my wife is right. i DO have a problem.....

I searched but can't find any info so I gotta ask: What's this about a coil mod?

Ironsheik, follow this thread, and possibly BikeCliff's awesome website.

BTW, I met Steve from Southwest ohio Sunday morning. Very intelligent man. He explained the idea of a relay to me and after it sunk in was when I got the nerve to actually install and test the mod. Thanks, Steve. Hope the parts you got are doing you well.

Paul,

The parts are mostly doing very well. Got the side stand switch installed on my wife's bike last night, it works perfectly.

Started cleaning the head, found two broken exhaust bolts, got them out OK. Started using a thread chaser to clean the spark plug holes and got it stuck, so that's where it sits right now. Gonna try some heat this afternoon to try to free thing up a bit.

The carbs will be a project for when there is nothing left to do. :-\"

Nice to meet you, hope we get to do some riding together this summer. 8-[

i have a question, dumb maybe, i am naive to this stuff...the relays i looked at had 5 pins, the ones in some of the mod writeups have 4, what is the diff? what is the 5th pin for and will this relay word? im sure it will, but like i said, i am stupid...thanks!!

Steve, I have used SeaFoam deep creep for stubborn nuts bolts etc and it has worked very well. just a thought ;-)
