DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I posted all about my trials and tribulations getting a title thru international title service, (it was all good, nothing but happy here) but I put it in the discussion forum. now it has fallen under the axe of time and I can't find the thread, but specifically I wanted to find the loophole someone here knew about with bikes older than 1975 not even needing all the paperwork??

sorry if this seems out of scope for the tech board, but I think this is a common occurance and something should be referenced about the title service route and possible other options. 8-[

thanks in advance!

How much does it cost to get a title like that? What all do they do?

Sorry, I know it isn't answering your question but I've passed on some excellent looking and extremely cheap bikes because they didn't have titles.

I saw it a few months ago, can't find the reference now.
Pretty sure it was anything over 25 years old.
Sorry.

I've been searching off & on all day, as time allows, on a couple of DMV sites, and can find no reference to antique, or collector, titles. Sorry. How about calling your local Monday, and see what they say?

It was not an antique or collector title, just that it wasn't required on older bikes. The people at the DMV were not aware of this statute.

I am looking for that also

I am looking for that also

I remember that post awhile back. I went to the DMV and just as the post had said They didn't know anything about the "loophole". I remember that in the original post the "Poster". Had to show the DMV folks the where to look and all turned out well for him. If anyone remembers that thread or finds it please repost.
Thanks,

Some states allow you to prove ownership with a bill of sale if the bike is old enough. ITS is about $300 if I remember correctly.

I am now ready to ride with my rebuild of a GS750 L. I need the title and would like to know if anyone ran into trouble when a title was unobtainable at the local DMV as there was a titled owner---even if it is almost 9 years since he sold the bike without transferring the title and the bike has passed hands several times over before getting to me! I know I shouldn't have bought it without a title but the 79 750 L is so darn pretty!!! And it really didn't take that much to get it going. Now it is a close twin to Rick Yonkers bike.

I would especially appreciate the experience of duanage and snowbeard if possible. And of course anyone else who has gone through the process. My only other alternative is to go to court--min 250.00 to start and not know if the process will work. ITS is quoting me 140.00

Thanks in advance

I did my daughter's TS185 through ITS, no problems, it was $125 I think.

I'd rather use this loophole next time.
