A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1983 GS1100 with CR carbs with pod air filters.
She idles fine
She sounds good
She revs fine
The throttle opens and closes no problem but when you rev it past 2500RPM she comes down on the RRRRRRRRs to slow before 2500 you can blip the throttle all day try and take above that and hold on.
i know the slides are closing because i can see them close.
HELP

Dunno what RRRRRRRRRs are, but, perhaps not understanding everything you are saying, revs hang after bringing it above 2500 rom? If so, lean idle circuit or bad carb synch.

i ran into that with my gs1100gl 82 main jets are to small now not enough fuel, try 17.5 main jets or 115 see if that helps

CR carbs run a different numbering system for jet sizes. You probably have 60-70 pilots. I tried lots of combinations with my 1085cc GS1000 engine. no changes. Runs like crap in the off-idle to lower midrange. Great on top.

I tried swapping needle clip positions, needles, needle jets, and pilot jets. Asked numerous folks and it seems to be a national security issue because no one is saying anything.

Hi,

CR carbs? Do you mean CV carbs? Stock, your bike should be equipped with Mikuni BS34SS carbs which are Constant Velocity carbs. I'm pretty clueless anyway, but I'm really clueless when it comes to CR carbs.

When did this behavior start? After you installed the pod filters? Have you jetted and tuned the carbs for the pod filters?

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I have a set of Keihin CR's on my 82 Katana (as well as on a couple of other bikes). 9 times out of 10 a hanging idle can be corrected by adjusting the air screws.
