    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Cracked Boot at 5,000 miles?

Now I am curious if this is a bad manufacture boot or if this has happened to anyone else before out of just sheer bad luck so soon. I couldn't figure out why I was bogging and then to find out my cyl 4 header was only reading 160 degrees F after riding for an hour. So I went to pull the carbs and found the culprit immediately obviously. Now, I ride alot of roads that have horrible laps and figure this could be from alot of bouncing of the carbs. Especially for only 5,000miles. Not running lean prior to this so I cant imagine the summer heat taking a toll like that. Any insight would be appreciated.

I almost am thinking of building a support bracket somehow but I am not seeing a way to make that possible.

Thithrty+ year old rubber that at that low miles has been sitting for some time detriorartes.Not a function of miles but age.That's why you don't run tires over 5 years old

I bought these new this spring.
 
If the boots are new, I'd say it's defective. If they are NOS, much depends on how they were stored over the past thirty or so years.
 
you destroyed the boot with the use of automotive clamps.
there is a reason suzuki and other manufacturers use narrow clamps that are not able to be tightened to the point of pinching/ripping/tearing ect..
FYI
if you are not running an air box take a nice heavy duty wire tie and use it to support the rear of the carbs.
never just let carbs hang in the wind...they may just fall off one day.:eek:
 
It was NOS sitting at my local Suzi dealer than no one ever picked-up even after they paid for them. The Ticket on the item was only 5 years old. And since I only paid 20 Bucks for all of them I would take the gamble. But now I need just one not all four, Doubt I would find that part itemized for sale... Worst case scenario I believe Z1 had them for 80 bucks a set.

Damn me, I didnt think about that, It prolly did cut em. Makes alot of sense. Feel like a dumbaxx now. Im going to go get those now from my dealer Just called and 15 bucks for the set of 8. Kicking myself right now.
 
Yea I wont let that happen. Apparently I was off on price. I thought $80 @ Z1, looks more like $120 for boots.....
 
your OEM boots look angled.
after market boots will be straight and not of the same quality.
find one nice used OEM boot that you need...install a new o-ring and your done.
post something in the classifieds here or go to suzuki and purchase the one you need.
just make sure you inspect the others...they still may be ok.
oh,
add the heavy duty tie wrap to the rear of the carbs to the frame.

Good catch. I missed that in the photo. Can't blame the boots.
