A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Cracked diaphragms...now what?

Actually Steve, the cracks are on the leading edge of the crimp but still to the inside area. Its gonna leak air there unless he seals them. Yes to replace them with new is the order of the day, but they can be temperarily fixed..or even permanently..if he decides that then RTV or glue is good enough.

In reality, the fix will probably last many many riding seasons.

your speaker cone glue ? didn't work ?

did you try the RTV stuff as mentioned ?

put a blurb in the parts wanted section, sometimes a whole set of complete carbs are available....

it's all worth a shot before you spend the 400 bucks....

bikebandit wants $106 a piece THAT IS INSANE!
Yes, it is insane, and I keep telling ya to lose that link to Bike BANDIT.

Yeah, they're not cheap, Boulevard Suzuki wants $99.42 each for them.
http://www.boulevardsuzuki.com/fich...y=Motorcycles&make=SUZUKI&year=1982&fveh=2156
And they are $97.83 at G&S Suzuki.

I have a box full of then from a 1980 GS 550. If they will work you can haave one free.
Your 550 uses BS32 carbs, his 1100 uses BS34. They slides are not the same.

UGH here goes a damn $400 hit
Hopefully you have not placed the order yet, as the links we have given you will save about $30.

.

I saved this link in case it might come in handy some day. Check it out but please do your due diligence:

install part can cure engine stuttering, unwanted acceleration, uneven and
unbalanced carburetors caused by leaking or worn diaphragms. Until now
replacement meant you had to buy an expensive new throttle slide.
Please state carburetors you have or measure diameter of groove when ordering:

Doesn't state Suzukis but take some measurements and see what they say.

EDIT: I see these have been mentioned a couple of times but no statement like "those won't work" or "I called and they won't fit"
