    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

cracked windshield

I have a cracked windshield. It is one that does not have a metal frame or any sort of metal support. When the windshield is un broken, it is bolted to a fairing along the base of the windshield. The crack is a piece that actually broke off. I have the item bolted back on the fairing because both pieces have enough bolts to hold them on securely.

What i need to know is what product can i use to glue the pieces together. I want to do it while the windshield is mounted because if i tried to do it with the shield off i would get it out of line. The 2 pieces are not 100% meshed. I was hoping for a recommendation for a product that does not run easily while dying.
The distance between the 2 pieces is a couple of thousands. I don't mind seeing the glue or whatever. I am mainly interested in safety((the pieces staying on the fairing at 75 mph.
Any ideas please???
I also intend to use a couple of nut, bolt nd washer setups till i get a new windshield.
 
If there is a crack where it broke, use a small drill, the smaller the better
and drill at the edge of the crack. This should keep it from spreading.

Another idea is to replace it.
I cracked the windshield on my S a few years ago.
I got a replacement from Gustafson, fits great, no problems.
He offers different tints and can make one for just about any bike.

Hawasaki wants $425 for a new windshield. Yje recomended site is askinf $129 plus shipping. A lot better.
I still want to glue it first because i may just buy some lexan and make one.
 
LEXAN works well. Stick with the brand name. It is quite a bit stronger than some other clear plastics, does not become brittle, and does not discolour.

I have not tried making a 'shield for your bike, but for the units on a GK or Windjammer fairing it is easy to do.

On my GK, with 1/8 thickness LEXAN, I get no flex at all, at any speed.
 
Thanks ron. i will definitely use lexan. Right now i am interested in a clear epoxy of some sort i think.
