Crank case ?cushion gasket?

Jhurt

Reassembling my engine, i notice that there is listed a crank case cushion gasket (actually 2 of them) behind the left side crankcase cover, the part that houses the clutch cable linkage. Neither was there when i took the engine apart, I only see one of them on ebay as an NOS part here in the US, the other in the UK with $75 shipping attached. Is this just an anti-rattle thing? Wondering how important it is and if i could run without it. Parts 14 and 16 here:

Difficult to say.... the rubber gaskets are quite thick so the casing may not go on straight without the gaskets.

I know very little about this bike but an idea would be: even if you don't want the pricey gasket, it may be you will still want to build a paper-type gasket in there to the same thickness..just incase something sticking out wants the space. But you can check it too for this-slip a piece of paper in to see if there's a pressure points. If not maybe just make up a normal ("Karopak") gasket as metal-versus metal gasket.

Thinking more about this, the clutch cable will be pulling the clutch actuator at an angle without these rubber bits. Again, not sure if this is/will become an issue.

Their principal function is noise reduction from the output sprocket area.
They isolate the cover from the cases.
Simply eliminating them doesn't seem to cause a problem.

Later bikes went to a foam filled cover to do the same job.

Another thought i had while going through my box of parts to be sure i don?t have them is: with that cover located closer to the clutch actuation rod is there enough adjustment in the release mechanism to compensate for that? Crapola. I may just put it together and see what?s what.

Jhurt did you manage to resolve the issue ?
I have the gaskets but, they are in bad shape and I am having hard time finding them. Tried putting the case without them but, the clutch rod doesn't let it go futher. Any help or link to where i can find these cushions ?

I did. Found a set of NOS cushions on ebay, been running them for a couple years. Took quite a bit of looking and waiting until I saw them pop up for sale.
