Hi -
I'm putting my 850 engine together, w/ the Haynes manual. On the right side main bearing (the one that doesn't have one of the big locating pins), I have the circlip, but the manual also shows a small locating pin. I'm pretty sure that the pin was not there when I pulled it apart - I see the hole in the bearing, and the notch in the upper case, but no pin.
How critical is this pin? I can't even find it on the parts schematic. Should I try to locate one, or have one machined, or just leave it out?
