    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I want to do away with the original look of the 700 once its complete as far as the bulky mufflers go. I was thinking something shorter and smaller in diameter with a slight bend at the tips facing away from the bike.

Can I use the existing headers and cut off the rest of the exhaust then weld tubes instead? How about performance since it'll basically be straight piped.
 
Yup. Youll want to weld an insert into the end of the pipes for the new slip-ons to clamp to.
 
Performance will suck - you'll lose low and mid range and attract a lot of police

Go check out Salty Monks bike - he really did a fine job on getting it set up

Police really arent a problem for me. 95% of my riding will be 2 miles to school from my friends house along a highway, or 70 miles on a highway non stop usually in rush hour. Performance is what I was worried about :(

I'll do that though, I really just want a modern look on it since I like how it looks without anything on it right now.

EDIT: Just checked his exhaust, says hes running a bassani?

I'm tight on money still, thats why I had the idea of bending my own tubing and making a custom fabbed exhaust but I guess it can't be done by me without power loses.

if youve got a welder you can build a baffle. that would help the power loss issue

I don't have one and rarely have used one in my past so I wouldnt be comfortable with it. I'd want it done properly because my biggest fear is making sure the angles are right and away from my tire since I'm always worried about blow by while cornering and low siding from my oil experiences...
 
Realize you probably cant afford it at the moment, but this is probably the best pipe for your bike. They are in limited supply but it has been going on for a while.

j & p cycles.has bolt in universal baffles, i just found it in my catalog. prices range from 2.99 to 60, just depends on pipe size and style of baffle
 
If youre just looking to deaden a little rattle and crack in the sound, lollipop baffle are super easy to make.
