A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So if you remember, I bought this 850 body set off ebay that appears to have had the tank blown up with compressed air. See the history here:
http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=107624
I was getting ready to just throw the tank in the trash, but it was a rainy morning here in NE and I've been thinking about this for a while. So I took a couple of nylon tie downs that they used to pack the old Yamaha Ventures in the crate with and guessed at the best angle on this blue tank, wrapped the tank in a towel, tightened the crap out of the straps by hand, then put the whole thing delicately balanced on it's side on a pad on the cellar floor and bounced my a$$ on the side of the tank three times. Third time I heard a crunch. No loss the tank was heading for the junk yard anyway. To my surprise, I took off my old black tank and the blue one slid right on slick! Didn't hit the frame and everything lined up! My ass customization did buckle and peel the paint up around the neck as illustrated below, but after swapping the petcock and fuel sending unit and throwing half a tank of gas in it, looks like I got me an all blue, rusty rat bike. I'm a friggin happy camper.\\:D/

Tony.

So apparently you don't mind getting a little behind in your work.

I hate myself.

nice work... i say do what it takes to fix it... even if it is unconventional

Don't hate yourself beergood. That was a good one. Sometimes, it's all about the ass.
I took it and filled it to the brim today. No leaks!
80GS750: I came within inches of throwing this tank away. You're right. If it works and doesn't put you or others in danger-GO FOR IT!
Have a great weekend folks.
I'm hoping to ride to the coast with the AW tomorrow.
