    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

CV carb breakdown?

I am after a exploded view of the CV carbs from a GS1000E 1980 model.

The one that I have is from Alpha Sports & is so out of focus it is very hard to ID the parts!!

Basically I have 2 sets & am making a good set out of both as the air screws are jammed in one set & the other set are in poor shape dirt wise.

Another issue I have is that in the float chamber there is an Ally blanking disc at the top & one set has nothing between this & the float gasket. However, the other set has 2 of 4 with a flat grommet between the disc & the gasket roughly the same size as the disc. Everyone i've spoke to says theirs doesn't have any, but the rebuild kits I have (4) 2 have them & I don't know what to do with them?

Check the GSR home page for the carb rebuild tutorial, it will explain how to tear down the carbs.

Those rubber donut seals are not commonly included in rebuild kits and the parts fishe is not clear on them either. I recently rebuilt a set of carbs and didn't replace them. The carbs don't leak so I think it's okay but I'd replace them if you have some.

Pretty sure the rubber donuts are just there to ensure the aluminum plugs don't fall out.
 
Surely the float gasket & the bowl itself will stop that happening anyway:confused:

Gonna have areal good look at that carb disassembly, Cheers matey;)

Dunno, but the last 1000 that I got for a song was missing one, just an open hole from the float chamber to the venturi, you can guess what that one ran like. Oddly, it was not loose in the bowl, so someone else was in there and didn't find the problem, just lost the little plug?
Fine with me, I got a great bike out of the deal!
