    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

cv carb slides

Hey guys i am planning on reassembling my cv carbs tonight and was wondering if there are any tricks to getting the rubber on the slides to seal properly on the top of the carb.
 
just put the screws in....

it shouldnt be too difficult for you
just line them up right and tighten them down.. but not too tight.
 
When installing the slide it helps if you form the diaphragm like a mushroom (smooth on top). This helps spread out the diaphragm so it matches the cut-out on top the carb body. Hold the slide up with your finger inserted in the inlet side of the carb and install the top to capture the diaphragm while still in the groove.

I also put some grease in the groove the diaphram locates in at the top of the carbs. It doesn't take but a little & it works every time! Ray.
 
Just remember to make sure you have that small rounded rubber "tab" on the diaphram located in the matching cut-out on the groove, otherwise it won't seat right & will leak.

Once you have everything in position & are holding the cap down with your fingers, hold it up & eyeball the seam all around between the top & the carb body - you will easily see if the diaphram is not seated in the groove - there will be "gap" between the body & the top. Sometimes you just need to "roll" the cap lightly around the top of the body to get those stubborn unseated areas to just push into the groove.

After a couple, it's a piece of cake.

Some greases attack rubber. Make sure the type you use clearly states it doesn't if you choose to use grease.
