If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

HJFISK,
Thanks for the Ultra fast shipping on the airbox!! Got it Yesterday!!

Pod filters work just fine with CV carbs.
I have no idea who started that rumor and led seemingly everyone else to believe it.
I run pods on two bikes with CV's and one has stock exhaust the other 4-into-1.
Not a glitch or hick-up with either one. Ever!
If you tune the carbs correctly, no problems whatsoever. ;)

Daniel

YUKYUKYUK.
Thats right up there with my 3/4 race cam and dual point distributor:eek:

NOT

I'm working on a problem like this right now. My 83 GS750es has stock exhaust, Uni pods, 700 cams, 700 pistons. I'm using the 700 carb's with the bigger jets than the 750 had.

Goes like heck under acceleration, but had a POOR idle and a ocassional pop through the exhaust. It REQUIRES me to blip the throttle at a stop, or jack up the idle speed up to keep it running when I'm not going down the road.
I have cleaned the carbs, set the floats, changed the plugs, ran some seafoam through the carbs, removed the plugs to adjust the pilot air screws at 3 turns out. Getting TERRIBLE gas mileage, and it is starting to run alot better, just wont idle or cruise smoothly.

I had pulled the plugs,1,2,3 were black, but 4 seemed like it was light tan. replaced all of them with new, and started to notice that the 4 cylinder exhaust was not as hot as the other 3 were. So I changed coils, and cleaned off the pick up on the right side of the engine. Geting better but NOT good enough..

Any more thoughts on this one?

You're running too rich, because I had the same problem with my 750.
The PO grinded the cams and had Kerker pipes, etc.

I found the fuel screws were out Way too much, and Air Screws were In too much. I also found the floats set inconsistently and off.

I'd check all of those again...just to be sure.

a lot of bad info in this thread...
glad i'm not involved.:twistedevil:
ray's advice is correct or stock air box...nothing between those suggestions will be 100% correct from idle to redline.
;)

Well I have a stock airbox available to.OP seems long gone but I'll put it out for others.Just needs the metal rings for the boots and a filter element.$20+ shipping from Canada.

Hey Blowerbike, You really between Trenton and Germantown OH? I'm In W. Milton, north of Dayton. After I install this airbox, I'd like to get in touch with you and see if I can get you to make sure the carb's are dialed in correctly. Please PM me your contact info when you get a chance. Are you "Terry" from the Craigs list ad for GS parts?

one in the same..........:)

no uncleben i was wondering because if i put pods on cause i cant find an air box for this bike and from what i know and what people tell me you need the airbox for this bike to run i was trying to put my hand and arm to cover the back of carbs but that does not work the airbox in this bike makes a back pressure i guess to lift the carb slides in these carbs and i dont think pod filters will work???????????

Pods will work but you have to tune the carb...Re-Jet
Better off finding a stock airbox. One will turn up eventually.

correct me if i'm wrong but...
doesn't the engine have to be removed to install the air box?
seems like ive read this before...maybe not???
sounds like jet kit time to me plus no ebay 28 dollar for a set of 4 emgo junkers or you'll be sorry.:twistedevil:

Yes it does.Rtk-Rch says he got one in by removing all the engine mounting bolts and somehow getting it in.I can't see how but.......

Well I got the Air box in without pulling the engine. Remove ALL but the bottom motor mount, remove the cam chain tensioner, pull the oil line, remove the carb boots, and do a little prying...goes right in. I did remove the battery and the box to slide the air box farther back to instal the carb's.
Sure like the pods as far as ease of getting the carb rack in and out, but I hope to be able to set the air box in, put the stock stuff back in the carb's and finally enjoy riding again.
Terry ,I'll be in touch when I get it running...Thanks!

OK I can accept that.Lots of stuff to get out of the way but still easier than pulling the engine.
