A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

De-stinking Penelope

Cams tomorrow...fingers crossed!!!:):):) PS... I have a like new cam chain as well should your be out of specs.

I haven't yet found the spec's for the cam chain. But I guarantee it's still in good shape by the way the tensioner responded.

The crank after I washed it up and wiped it down with oil.

Yes, just the jugs and pistons.

That's a nice head for the money don't you think?

Long as theres no damage that cant be seen in the pics. Whats wrong with the existing ones?? Cracked or something??

Nothing wrong with the old ones at all, at least nothing a little white sugar sand can't take care of.

Just wanted the new ones because they were nice, clean and dirt cheep. If He would have had the head for sale and in similar condition, more than likely I would have bought it as well.

Me like Fuel resistant pieces...

***edit***
Plus, a new wrist pin with shipping would have been almost as much as those four pistons cost.

Get 2 bottle of MR Clean and a tub big enough to submerge the head and jugs ( seperately of course ). Put the 2 bottles of MR Clean in and add the part. Fill with water till covered and let them sit a day or two. The gunk will almost melt off and just some little scrubbing here and there with a tooth brush will get the knooks and crannies. Rinse with the hose ( or power washer / car wash even better ) and blow dry with the air hose. Ready for the hone and some bead blasting at that point. Suzuki also makes an engine degreaser that kicks Gunk engine cleaner square in the groin!!!

Yeah it do look perty!

And the camshafts that 'just' arrived in the mail, I suspect will look as good as the crank. :D

I was hoping you would see this post.

I'll have to post pictures of them when I get home late this evening. They look even nicer than the crankshaft did!

Pictures...

I know, I know, I should have wiped it off before taking the picture.

Next time I'll make sure I do!

I am just so happy they made it unharmed and they are making the old girl whole again. Shes been beaten like no other and deserved better...now shes getting it!!!!!

Just wait until you see what I've concocted to keep the blasting media out of the lower engine case. If I get time this weekend to finish it, I'll post pictures.

Very hard to get exact measurements with dial calipers. Still close enough for this purpose.

keep in mind .01 mm is .000394"

or .001" is .0254mm

Yeah thats the BIITCH of the digitals..as you ever so slightly roll the cams the numbers click by so fast its hard to get a perfect sweet spot to get readings. Thats why in the PM I said i was gonna look for a set of dual read mechanicals..I tend to have much more faith in them than the digitals. Now you know 100% for sure the crank and upper half is of good quality..piece of mind is priceless.
