I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Dented 1000s tank restore

So now i have sanded the ridges left from the dark primer and masked the blue dividing line off. Shot the white area with grey primer. Why 2 primers your gonna ask. The intent is to preserve the exact factory boundaries so when i do colors they are pretty close to the centerline of the decals just like it was new, This gives me a good witness line to follow. Dark primer area gets blue and grey area gets white, Then simply sand the paint lines and apply decals.
A bit more tedious than just shooting and hoping you get the paint layed out right. By doing it this way theres no doubt about it..in my thought process anyway. I may be crazy but i am good at it..HA HA

Click image for larger version Name:	Fr9Alq.jpg Views:	0 Size:	89.1 KB ID:	1726236 So now to let it dry a few days then sand it smooth. Then mask off down the center of the tape marks and do colors. NOW you can see why i used two differing primer colors... so i have witness lines to lay it out for paint. As the pics show what ive done is taken any guess work out of it. Maybe ive over thought it but it is what i came up with to get proper location of decals

Nice to get bigger pics for sure, Chuck. Thanks for that. The only thing outside your process, that seems to work for the way you do it, is what Ed offered earlier in a post. I would have primed the entire tank in high-build primer to make sure all the sand scratches come out before laying out your stripe design and giving the new paint a good solid foundation. I've watched your progress over the years and you've learned a lot, and your final results are admirable, so you just keeping doing what your doing. It may take a bit longer, but it's the end result that matters when it's all said and done. ;)

Are you going to paint the white & black stripes this time? If so, you can follow any pattern you want. If you get the Diablo graphics, though, the way they lay down may be slightly different from the originals. And forcing them to conform can lead to wrinkles. Be careful with that.

I got the diablo graphics.Theres a pretty good bit of wiggle room on positioning so i think all will be ok

Masked everything off and shot blue tonight. Not even gonna breath on it till i get home from work tomorrow. might have to spot sand at that point and do a final coat. If theres one lesson above all others ive learned thats number 1.. DO NOT RUSH THINGS

Got final coat of blue applied. Now let it cure a few days so i can sand the paint lines in the white area to prep for shooting white, Once im happy about that its wet sand the entire thing, add the decals and clear.

Guy told me to use orange tape and i could mask off the blue after 24 HRS. So i got 2 inch roll and grew a bigger pair and masked it off and just shot a tack coat of white, No turning back now!!! Pics will follow eventually
