Oddly, the L boost from my 850G are smaller than the R boots, even after multiple extended periods in wintergreen oil & alcohol. All four are now nice and supple, so the wintergreen oil did it's trick. I assume they're regained whatever size they will at this point. My only guess is that someone swapped them over the 45 year lifespan
Here's a pic to show the diff. I can get the L's over the carb flange, but it requires a lot of stretching while the R's go on easily but snuggly. The L's also fit loosely in the airbox ports, with almost 1/8" play
Not yet sure what to do about it, short of buying some aftermarket boots. Ideas welcome.
