A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

hey peaple when i am doing the diode test my meter gives me a reading of 512 530 535 any one know what this means The chart sater pages shows it should be 1.5 v or 1v what is happing is that when i first start the bike up (i should tell ya that the bike is a 83 gs750es) it charges 13.4-14.2 in all rpm ranges i let it warm up go for a ride about an hour and check it it charges 14.5-16.5 concerned about the ignition box frying?????????

Looks like your regulator went south. You'll fry your battery at those voltages.

this is the 4th rr i have changed the stater rr(4) battery ing switch went through all wires cut off meny plugs sodered wires wont stop over charging like that damn

From what I gather from the meter readings you show is that you have the meter set to the ohms scale. If that is true then the readings you get are probably alright. When checking diodes with the meter on the ohms scale, you should get a reading with the meters connected in one direction and if you reverse the meter leads you should get no reading. The fact all your readings are close to each other I would assume that if you reversed the leads you would get no reading as mentioned above and that means the rectifier part of your regulator/rectifier (R/R) is good. The over charging is probably the regulator part as mentioned in another post. Depending on your bike the regulator may be separate from rectifier or not. Good Luck!
