I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

My project came with no keys, I found someone selling the lot of ignition, gas cap and seat lock with keys online. This lot is off a 1979 GS, will it work on my 1981? It looks to me to be the same. Thanks for any help in advance.

OK, we have a small clue that the '81 is an 1100, and they only had an 1100E that year, but some people (DMV included) will mistakenly call early '82 models an '81 because it was assembled in '81.

The '79 is another issue, as there were 22 models made, so we can't help you until you help us.

WHAT BIKES ARE WE TALKING ABOUT???

.

Im so sorry. I have a 1981 GS1100E The lot is for a A 1979 GS1100 S646 lock set. This is the ebay item number: 351769943905
if you put that in the ebay search bar it should pull up exact lot im looking at. I appreciate your input and help, thanks.

Look for 3 digits stamped on the face of the seat latch or the fuel cap. If you find 3 digits thats the key code. Next get ahold of a locksmith and tell him the key code is XXX and he should be able to cut you a key. Of course tell him year make and model too.

Thanks for the info, but there is no '79 GS1100 anything.

Again, it's probably an early '80 that was assembled in '79.

You have any pictures of this alleged '79 bike?

.

It looks very similar to the '78/'79 GS1000 ignition assembly. I just swapped the switch from my '79 that I had cleaned into the keyed housing of my '78. It looks very similar to the pictures in the link and the plug looks to be the same. They may have changed the way the lock comes out of the housing but I would bet my old ones would fit your bike if the bolt spacing is the same for the housing.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I was lucky enough get a key for my locks and not have to drill out my gas cap and change out the rest of the locks. Believe it or not a friend of mine has about 20 Suzuki gs models and he brought a bag of keys over and a couple of them actually worked! One better than the other so I went with the best working one and had two made for $8.00. Thanks again.
