A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Despite people's advice I put cream tank liner in my tank because I already have it. In a month it's already gone bad I don't think I neutralize the acid enough so it's rusting and spots is it a bad idea to just remove the tank liner and not have one at all

I would never coat a tank that's not rusted. If you can get the coating out then that is what I would do. Assuming that your tank was in good shape originally and the tank coating didn't screw it up.

Well there was some sort of tank liner in there before and that started coming off otherwise the tank seemed in good condition

No there wasn't rust until I did the acid washed to etch the tank, then it flash rusted but I cleaned that up and thought I neutralize it, but I believe there may be some rust under the liner

If you have rust under the liner then you need to get that liner out and remove the rust. Otherwise, you will have more trouble/

Okay will I be okay to leave it just Steel I've heard about people using 2-stroke oil to coat metal would that work

Just make sure that you keep it full of fuel or coat it with some WD40 if it's not going to be used right away.

I have never had a tank rust out on me
I remember as a boy my dads trucks had scratched and exposed boxes but as he always had a barrel of diesel in the back the things never rusted.
Wonder of a tank of diesel prperly drained after storage would keep a tank spotless
the thin film on the pickups kept things fine. Maybe it was a high sulphur content but in moisture that would make for strong acid and etch the heck utta things.
I miss them old fords
damn
