DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Don't like the Drag 'bars on new toy, what to replace with?

The Beast came with drag bars.
I have "hand issues", I can not do "the sportbike pushup" for more than 1 miles without problems.
Any thoughts on what to replace them with? ( I'm leaning toward original bars)
Here it is:

superbike bars are your best bet, slightly higher and pulled back. makes for a comfortable riding position and good leverage for blatting through the twisties..

i hate drag bars on a road bike, they are so uncomfortable

I put superbike bars on the old bikes I have had.
Comfortable and usable.

I like the stock bars, but if you run over 70 or so, they are tiring. I generally ride on roads where under 70 is fine. Blazing down the interstate, something more forward, like a Daytona bar, would be nice.

One of my 1000Gs and my BMW R80RT had that kind of Metzler tire. I was a little disappointed in them compared to how much I liked Metzler 88s and 880s in the past. Still pretty good though.

I like the stock bars from a smaller GS. GS450 bars were perfect on my 750, maybe GS550 bars would be good on that 1000. But it all depends on how you are shaped and how you ride.

My 79 GS1000L is sitting next to this in my garage. ( still not running)
I don't know what superbike bars look like. How do they compare to my stock L bars?

Anyone got a pic superbike bars?

I'd seriously agree with everybody else up above...consider the stock bars!
I've only got half-a-bike compared to yours! but my bike came with two stock options...

Both are good,(I guess the low ones suit your link-they are also reasonably priced!) but if you plan on a windshield, I'd choose the taller type- without some wind, the lower type can be "felt", though on THIS bike, they are preferred. The taller ones are now on the 400T, which has a stepped seat, more like yours and the lower bars are just a bit a stretch on the T-I think your forearms should be level when comfortably riding...if you find yourself "stiff-armed" in a corner, I think this is bad...
