Dropped bike, carb floods

I dropped my bike at a stand still and caught it when it hit the left engine cover. I quickly picked it up and then it ran like dog ****. The left most carb is overflowing gas everywhere. My manual says that the float needs adjusting. Is it deffinately my float even with a layover? My stepdad says my float could just be stuck and tap on it with a wrench to free it up. I have no idea how to start to fix it, I've spent over a thousand dollars just to ride a FREE motorcycle (class, tags, taxes, insurance, gear, etc...). Now everything has come to a stop after 3 days of riding. My options now are to take a huge loss, or somehow fix this myself because a shop would kill me.

So take the float bowl off and see what's going on in there. Can't be too hard to fix, there's only about three parts in the whole thing.

Yep, the float is stuck, or the pin popped out, or the needle got jarred out. Look at the "In The Garage" on the homepage carb rebuild series, it will show you what it's supposed to look like in there.

The manual says take it all apart and flip the thing upside down. Needed? Also hate to say this but that picture confused me. Is the float that big thing with black peices on both ends?

You can probably take the float bowl off and look with it still on the bike, but can't set the float level. The hardest part will be getting the screws out without stripping the heads if they haven't been off in a while. Get a screwdriver that fits well. It will be easier off the bike.

I bet all you have to do is knock the bowl or carb body with the handle of a screwdriver a couple of times. I doubt it's really jammed. It worked for me when my bike was tipped and carb overflowing.

You can also try draining the float bowl 2-3 times. Drain, reconnect petcock, start & run, drain again & so on

I'd try rapping on it with the screwdriver handle like ironman suggested. Should work if the float is stuck.
