    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

DYNA Coil Installation Question...

Well, I am now the proud (I hope!) owner of a new set of Dyna coils for my 1982 GS1100-Gz. I also purchased the Plug Wires from them.

The Question: Should I use the factory Plug Caps on the new wires or use the standard Plug Caps that come with the wires? I am not sure of the purpose of the hard plastic stock Plug Caps...

I am ready to do the install, so any help would be appreciated!

The new ones would probably be better than old ones.
If they are the same as mine, the dyna ones are like a car wire end and need the tip cap on the plug wereas the stock one pushes down over the plug with no tip cap.

My stock ones were harder plastic also and I dont think They would have switched over.

I seem to remember from somewhere that the stock plugs caps are some sort of "resistor". I don't know what purpose it serves, so am a little cautious about eliminating them.

If they are only for "radio interference", I don't need them. Can't imagine ruining a great ride by listening to the radio!

It depends on what type of wires you use If you use the OEM style solid core wire reuse the plug caps. If you use automotive suppression wire use the auto type ends
 
I seem to recall that Dyna includes the screw on caps with the plug wires. Or maybe I just grabbed some off of some old plugs.:oops: I am pretty sure they were included though.
 
Last time I bought Dyna wires They had conventional auto type ends

Ok, I realize that the solid core wires use the "resistor" end caps, and the "resistor" core wires don't.

What I don't know is why I need any "resistance"? Is there any reason to want or need the supression if you are not running a radio? I am mainly concerned with not doing any damage to the bike's ignition system. I don't beleive it will cause a problem, but I just want to be as sure as possible.

Use the supplied Dyna ends. They are FAR superior to the stock Suzuki parts. If they weren't we would all have the stock ones on our dragbikes! Ray.
 
The resistance stuff isnt just for your radio. Its for the guy in the car next to you too. The solid core wires put out more LF scatter than the carbon twine and silicone type (suppression). solid wire non-resistor will hiccup a cell phone, a pacemaker and not just a radio but any LF signal from an amplifier of any type.

The newer silicone and carbon twine is designed as suppression wire and you'll see no difference. Radio or not.

Oh, and my dyna wires didnt come with the plug caps but if you sweet talk a local mechanic, they usually have a handfull laying around somewhere. I got mine from an old set of spark plugs I had lying around.

Thanks to all of you folks for putting my nervous jitters to rest! I finished up the install and shazam, my old '82 GS1100G runs like it did when I bought it new! I had not noticed the performance deteriorating slowly for the last 2 or 3 years until I "thought" there was a problem with a couple of the carburetors.

After MUCH frustrating carb tinkering and getting no results, I realized that both cylinders that were running erratically (1 and 4) were on the same coil! New Dynas and this sucker is smooth as silk, gads what a relief.

And as for the RF interfering with Cell Phones, I desperately HOPE that it does! I am sick of the Mouth Breathers wobbling along discussing what they had for lunch...
