A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Dyna-s and the 450

Because the Dyna-S is meant for the GS400-425, the advance mechanism on these models have a 1-4 and a 2-3 marking and can be used on 4 cylinder models. The GS450 only has an "R" and an "L" marking, Right and Left. Only the "Right" side has the "F" mark that the instructions refer to. The advance timing mark on the Dyna-S is 1/2" to the right of the "F" mark on the advance assembly. Larry from Dynatek says to transfer the makings from "R" side to the "Left" side using a caliper to get accurate measurements or I could use an advancer from a GS400.

I'm learning something new daily.

Ah! Yes the lack of an F mark on one side is now ringing a faint bell... I can't recall how I dealt with that now but I definitely didn't transfer the marking.

Can't see that pic. But in the pic in post #1 you have the T mark (top dead center) lined up with the mark on the cases - above the screw securing the plate.
You can turn the crank anti-clockwise to find the F 1-4 (F for firing) mark and line it up with the mark on the case.

Where is the full advance mark on the bottom part of the timing unit. For the cylinder two side? Would you have any idea how I would time the L side?

Time one side up - the one for which you have marks - and because the Dyna pickups are fixed at 180 degrees apart, the other side should be correct.
